Ambassadors Meetings 2009

The first Ambassadors meeting of 2009 took place at Coventry transport Museum. Presenters were Richard Noble, World Land-speed record team-leader, Peter Knatchbull Hugessen of the Higgs Charity and Coventry based Film Director Debbie Issit. Around 95 people attended.

The summer Ambassadors meeting was held at Garden Organic nr Ryton and featured presentations by Coventry city Council CEO Martin Reeves, Myles Bremner, CEO of Garden Organic and Liz Millett from CV One who gave an update on the BE Inventive proposition. Almost 90 people attended the meeting.

The Ambassadors Autumn meeting took place at Warwick Arts Centre. Presenters were be Jon Baldwin, Registrar of University of Warwick; Chris West, Finance Director at Coventry City Council, Tim Holmes, Project Manager of Be Inventive & John McGuigan, Development Director at Coventry City Council.

The winter meeting will take place at ACT (UK) on the Coventry University Technopark and feature the ACT (UK) as well as an update of London 2012 developments from Dave Moorcroft and Tom Clift.

 

 

News Update


1.  Talks are ongoing between Richard Noble and stakeholders linked to the Ambassadors Group concerning the possibility of Richard’s Bloodhound car being built in the city



2.  Debbie Issit’s film Nativity, which was shot in Coventry and features local schoolchildren as well as locations, is scheduled for general release on 4/12/09. The film was supported by group members at a variety of levels


3.  Over 50 Ambassadors have given written support for the NUCKLE rail-line project. It is hoped that their experience knowhow and contacts can be utilised to get behind the project


4.  Several schools are using the Ambassadors Group for mentoring purposes. Finham Park, Sidney stringer, Barrs Hill and Bablake have been particularly forthcoming. If you are involved in a Coventry School and would like to enquire about using the group, please get in touch


5.  The group’s sporting stakeholders have been working together in a small group to share best practice with regards to raising profile and working together for a common goal rather than doing so individually and missing opportunities. Some results are:

 

a.  A cross-sport ticketing initiative
b.  A citywide branding proposition
c.  Awareness of otherwise unknown funding possibilities leading to an increase in revenue for community projects
d.  Utilisation of University students for specific project work



6.  The ambassadors Group has helped to secure 3 conferences in the city:

 

a.  Play the Game
b.  International Chaplains Conference
c.  Fairtrade Conference Work is ongoing to secure other conferences over the next 2 years
